Several well placed sources at tonight's A Night With Cougar Football say Jim Sterk has accepted the Athletic Director position at San Diego State.  More info to come.

Hopefully there have been some immediate conversations with this guy.  When one door closes, another opens.

In the long term, this is going to be a good thing for the athletic department. When you're unable to mount a significant capital campaign, its important to hand over the reins for someone else to give it a try.

Sterk did some great things during his time at WSU: Most notably, luring Dick Bennett out of retirement.

And if any of you are wondering why he's leave WSU for a Mountain West school, I ask you this question:

Have you been to San Diego lately???

So, we start a new chapter. But, this is my thought: Paul Wulff has got to be praying that Moos can find a way out of that no-compete contract he signed with Oregon.

Being a (up to now) losing football coach with a new AD coming in, is kind of like being a losing professional head coach with a new GM coming in.

We need stability, folks. Lets hope its Moos.

I think the "non-compete" is more like protection racket money. Nike U pays him $200k/yr to not be an AD for a BCS school west of the Mississippi. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Since Sterk was making $300k/yr, I wonder if he'd be willing to work for that, or something similar. Either way, I don't think the "non compete" will keep him from taking the job if he really wants it.

If I were Floyd, unless he already has someone in mind, the first two questions are "Would you want the job?" If yes, then: "Can we announce it Tuesday?" (I'd give Jim at least one day in the limelight.)

If Moos takes the job, he gets $100K more per year than he's getting now, so I guess it depends if he wants to work or not. I hope he's the guy.
